Built an interactive ‘magic mirror’ installation for Perry Ellis in Macy’s Herald Square

Perry Ellis debuted its “Shop of the Future” in Macy’s Herald Square, built with The Science Project. The shop ran in three zones: a video wall, a proximity mirror and a lighting display, powered by five Mac Minis (one for the video wall, three for the mirror zone, one central server).
I built the magic mirror. An ultrasonic proximity sensor on an Arduino, read by a Raspberry Pi, told a Meteor server in real time when a shopper stepped up to it; the server triggered the mirror and its two displays, drove the colors of the lighting display, and synced the shop’s media from the content system every night.
