Illumin-S Laser Harp

In 2012 I did a mini-collaboration with Avant Muse (@reynwaves), augmenting his laser harp, the illumin-s, with computer vision and a depth camera. The instrument was limited to one note or event per laser; adding a Kinect depth camera, with custom software to go with it, enabled attenuation of the lasers (pitch modulation, sound and more), which he could control by moving his hands in Z-space.
Eight years later, in 2020, I reconnected with him at his new music studio, and after only a little finagling on the hardware side, the app I wrote still worked, now driving the illumin-s 2.0.
